Kansas City
I finally made it to Kansas City and dropped off INDY!. It was great to see the fam there.. especially Penny. Unfortunately, INDY! cut his pad and had to get it stitched up. As a result, I spent most of the trip making sure the pup didn’t pull out his stitches.
The trip preparation is about complete. I finally fixed the starter relay (had to buy a new one from Flea bay) and the bike is back to running. I celebrated running bike with lots of wheelies =] YAY! Anyway, I’m going to post a page in the next couple of days with a packing list.

Trip update, more bike stuff, US pre-trip
I am now unemployed! Well, that isn’t entirely true as I am really on an “Unpaid Leave” if you talk to the folks at HR. It is basically like I’m having a baby and taking it on a motorcycle trip to South America. That is what most people use unpaid leave for in the US. I’ve started to put my final schedule together and I’m probably going to leave Friday July 11th or the Saturday the 12th. The main reason for the delay is all the domestic travel I have and all the non-motorcycle trip preperation I did not anticipate.
Bike wise, I’m ready to go except for the minor detail that the bike isn’t actually running right now. Well it is running IFF you push start it because I still have not received a replacement starter relay.
Currently I am on the road in Dallas heading north to Kansas City with my pup INDY!. I’m going to drop him off in KC and family is going to take came of him. This is the first of two trips: Hou -> KC -> Hou (wedding) -> Atlanta (wedding) -> New Orleans (family) -> Houston… THEN I start heading south.

Size Comparison:ASUS EeePC 900 20G vs ASUS EeePC 701 4G EEE!!!
As mentioned on my FAQ, I am bringing an ASUS EEE with me. It is a tiny laptop with a solid state disk that is less likely to be destroyed by bouncing around on a motorcycle for hours each day.
I originally bought the EEE 701 but was not happy with it because I could not get used to the 800×600 resolution. As soon as the EEE 900 came out, I jumped at the chance to get the same laptop but with not only a much larger display (res wise) but also with 20GB of solid state disk as opposed to 4GB. Awesome.
NewEgg hooked it up today and here are a few photos comparing the sizes. Specs are one thing, but it is another thing to see them side by side. 900 in White, 700 in Black.
As you can see, the 900 20G (same size as the 900 12G) screen has 1024×600 as opposed to 800×600 in a case that is about the same size. Those 224 pixels in height really matter! Screen pics to come later.
